About a year ago, I started my Instagram account @AllYouSeeIsCrimeInTheCity – I wanted to share photos of beautiful art and all the great Public Space Take Overs I’ve found on my travels with the world. I wanted people to feel inspired to travel but also to open their eyes to all the beauty in their own hometowns! The week after I started All You See Is Crime In The City I got on a plane to visit my favorite city, New York – this mural is the first thing I saw when I started walking around SoHo – It must be fate!
NYC is still to this day my first love, travel-wise. Since my first trip there in July of 2011 I’ve been there 4 more times, and I always stay a minimum of 2 weeks. It’s a never ending, forever changing, take your breath away place, and if you’ve never been there, it will not disappoint you when you go!
If it is your first time in the city I strongly recommend living in Soho, Lower East Side, Chelsea or The Village. Simply put, Lower Manhattan. These neighborhoods are full of great restaurants, cozy cafés, good bars, clubs, shopping and most importantly – amazing Street Art from legends to newcomers! Check out Air BnB or other rental sites, hotels are super expensive and not worth the cost.
It’s easy to get to all the NYC boroughs from lower Manhattan by subway, buy a Metrocard for 3 or 7 days in any subway-station, you can pay cash or with a creditcard. Or, you could do what I do – walk!
